Not too long ago there was a mind-set that existed; when weighing up the ‘pro’s and con’s’ of using Tube and Fitting Scaffolding against using System Scaffolding, it was often said Tube and Fitting Scaffolding offered more versatility. The recent developments in System Scaffolding, advancement in technologies and the ongoing technical support turns this on its head. Some Scaffolding Systems out compete Tube and Fitting Scaffolding on versatility.

The very latest and most advanced System Scaffold is the Peri System. After much research we have adopted this system, not just based on how versatile the system is, compared with Tube and Fitting Scaffolding but on how many other benefits it brings, not only from an operational aspect but also a health and safety, commercial, quality and environmental perspective. Also providing greater project flexibility in meeting increased project time-scales and deadlines.

Versatility

Tube & Fitting Scaffold design has not much changed over the years and the benefits of using advanced system scaffolding have been universally adopted. As projects have become more complex, it is not uncommon for projects to borrow system components, such as stair cases and temporary roof’s, providing fast, cost-effective solutions that meet Client demands.

The advancement of the Peri System Scaffold not only supersedes the versatility of Tube & Fitting Scaffold but provides greater adaption versatility also. Inside console board brackets, from 1, 2 & 3 boards width, can be adapted independently as opposed to adapting the complete working platform of a Tube & Fitting Scaffold. Internal intermediate working platforms can be formed between working platforms, often a requirement to cladding and brick-work tasks.

The Leg and platform; universally distributed load capability, enables bay sizes to increased up to 3 metres.

Health and Safety

The Peri System complies with the BS EN 12811 Standard. There are many advantages of using the Peri System as opposed to traditional Tube & Fitting Scaffold.

The Peri System has fewer components and connections thus making the erection/dismantling process less labour intensified.

The components are lighter thus decreasing the manual handling risk.

The metal decks are made of steel, thus of a constant weight as opposed to different weights of timber boards, especially when wet.

Metal decks offer fire rated qualities as opposed to timber boards, particularly crucial when carrying out works for cladding purposes.

Metal decks are stronger than timber boards, reducing the risk of board

collapse/snapping/damage.

Metal decks are fixed, thus reducing the risk of third party interference, inadvertent displacement and uplift caused by high winds.

The Peri System when erected has no protruding components, less risk of collision / impact risk.

Working platforms constructed using the Peri System have no inherent gaps where small tools and debris can fall through, as opposed to the 50mm gap created by the supporting inside standards of a Tube & Fitting Scaffold.

The connecting vertical, horizontal and diagonal components of the Peri system offer a stronger, more rigid scaffold frame decreasing the risk of partial/full collapse.

The buildability of the Peri System is designed so that advanced guardrails are easily installed to working platforms in advance of decking platforms, thus significantly reducing operative fall hazards and compliance.

Peri offer a full suite of training that is CISRS recognised.

All Peri components are stacked/stored in stillages and bins. They are mechanically

unloaded/loaded from lorries and mechanically transported to the place of work, thus reducing manual handling activity for this task.

Components are less likely to be left lying around as all components are not loose, cannot roll and be easily displaced, thus reducing poor housekeeping standards – trip and fall hazards.

Erecting the Peri System scaffolding requires no scaffold fittings (Double couplers, single couplers, swivel couplers, sleeves, spigots) as the connections are of a pre-set rosette type. Less components, less manual handling, reduced risk of falling materials, reduced risk of operative musculoskeletal upper limb disorders.

Commercial

The Peri System will significantly reduce erection and dismantle times thus greatly improving project schedules.

The speed of erect is such that project works can be coordinated to erect elevations to full height where sectional hand-over is possible, improving completion times and reducing residential disturbance to properties.

The neat, tidy and flush finish of the scaffold is aesthetically pleasing, improving the image of any construction work.

Coordinated and planned works are carried out with the support of the Peri Design Team and Design Engineers, ensure projects run seamlessly to meet the exacting requirements of complex construction projects.

Greater productivity is achieved using the Peri System; improved completion times, improved project delivery.

The improved image of construction projects achieved when using the Peri System scaffold benefits clients, local communities, neighbourhoods, reputation and public perception.

Quality

The Peri System complies with the BS EN 12811 Standard.

Using the Peri System Scaffold demonstrates a state-of-the-art scaffolding solution that is unrivalled on performance, usability and sustainability within the scaffolding industry, offering clients the aforementioned benefits, improving quality across the board.

The innovative 3D, 4D & 5D digital engineering services available with the Peri system provides customers with a virtual reality platform, with the ability to see the project before it becomes reality. With the ability to understand layout, interaction between components, and the relationship with surrounding structures, removing potential issues during the design process, improving efficiency and helping keep project cycles on track.

The metal deck system enables decks to be maintained in pristine condition as they can be easily power washed. The condition of deteriorating timber scaffold boards is an age-old problem all scaffolding companies face, many non-compliant with BS EN 2482. The consistent condition and performance of Peri decks offers a quality second to none.

Environmental

The environmental benefits of using the Peri system;

  • The-non use of timber products, eliminating the drain on the natural environment.

  • Decking system that can be cleaned or used in clean environments.

  • The non-use of mineral oils to service fittings as fittings are not used.

  • Scheduled specified delivery and pick-up's, with advanced component quantity schedules where transportation is minimised.

  • Reduced waste.

  • Less components equalling less transportation- Delivery and pick-ups.

  • Longer life span

  • Aesthetic image.

Adapting to operate to a system scaffold such as Peri, has many operational, logistical and management implications for scaffolding companies. Realising the advantages and benefits it brings, scaffold companies can commit to develop and fine-tune the infrastructure required. From Transport Divisions, Operational Teams, Depot Management, Design Departments and Integrated Management; fully committed to providing all clients and customers with a gold-plated scaffold service.
